Liberal talk show host Jimmy Kimmel praised Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia after she criticized President Donald Trump and announced she was departing Congress.

In an opening monologue Kimmel praised the new Wicked: For Good musical film saying people love the story of a witch turning over a new leaf which reminds me, Marjorie Taylor Greene resigned from Congress on Friday. His audience cheered in response.

“There’s going to be one less puddle of sweat on the floor mat of the congressional gym because Marjorie Taylor Greene, yet another Trump superfan, learns that loyalty to him goes only one way.”

In recent weeks Greene has broken with Trump on several issues including the release of the Epstein files.

Kimmel played a clip of Greene’s video announcement of her resignation.

“I refuse to be a battered wife, hoping it all goes away and gets better. There is no plan to save the world or a 4D chess game being played.”

Kimmel commented on the Christmas tree that could be seen in her video.

“I have to say this woman is being attacked from all sides right now. Somehow she still had time to put up her Christmas tree, not even Thanksgiving. She says Congress is beholden to the super wealthy and ignores the needs of ordinary Americans. She says her party has no plan for healthcare and that the Jeffrey Epstein files are not a hoax as the president claims they are. To which I say, ‘Welcome to reality, Marj.'”

Kimmel continued his mockery.

“Feel free to check out our science wing while you have a chance. And you know what? Congress’ loss is ‘Love Island’s’ gain, and I wish her a lot of luck. Marjorie is out and Mamdani is in!”

When contacted by Fox News Digital about the monologue a White House spokeswoman gave a perfect reply.

“Reacting to Kimmel’s show would require me to waste my time watching it, and like many Americans who choose not to watch it, I have more entertaining things to do — like watch paint dry.”

Kimmel has been a frequent critic of President Trump throughout his career. His show has become increasingly political over the years focusing heavily on attacking Republicans and promoting liberal causes.

The late night host’s gleeful celebration of Greene’s departure from Congress shows how Democrats and their media allies view Republicans who turn against Trump. They are welcomed with open arms and praised as finally seeing reality.

Greene announced her resignation on Friday stating that her last day would be January 5, 2026. The Georgia congresswoman cited growing disillusionment with Washington politics and criticized what she called the Political Industrial Complex.

Trump responded to Greene’s resignation by calling her a traitor and saying she went bad after he refused to return her never ending barrage of phone calls. The president suggested Greene resigned because she knew she would lose a primary against a Trump-endorsed challenger.

The feud between Trump and Greene represents one of the most dramatic political breakups in recent memory. Greene built her entire political brand around fierce loyalty to Trump and was one of his most vocal defenders in Congress for years.

Her association with Representative Tom Massie of Kentucky appears to have been the breaking point. Trump has repeatedly attacked Massie calling him the worst Republican congressman in decades.

Kimmel’s comparison of Greene’s political shift to a witch turning over a new leaf echoes the treatment other Republicans receive when they break with Trump. The liberal media suddenly discovers virtues in politicians they previously despised once those politicians start attacking the president.

The View hosts similarly praised Greene after her split with Trump welcoming her to the team. This pattern of celebrating Republicans only when they attack other Republicans reveals how the mainstream media operates.

The White House response to Kimmel’s monologue perfectly captured how many Americans feel about late night comedy that has become little more than Democratic Party propaganda. Ratings for these shows have declined significantly as audiences grow tired of constant political attacks disguised as entertainment.

Greene’s departure from Congress will trigger a special election in Georgia’s 14th congressional district. The Cook Political Report rates the district as Solid Republican meaning the seat will almost certainly stay in GOP hands regardless of which candidate wins the primary.

Kimmel’s audience cheering for a Republican’s resignation shows how tribal politics has become in America. The same audience would have booed Greene relentlessly just weeks ago before she turned against Trump.
