Whoopi Goldberg Has A Message For Struggling Americans

While inflation, high gas prices, and housing instability continue to burden millions of Americans, Whoopi Goldberg had a message for them on Thursday: stop complaining and pay more taxes.
Yes, really.
The multimillionaire co-host of The View, whose estimated net worth is $60 million, decided to lecture everyday Americans about their civic duties during a segment on the economy and school funding. Her advice to those living paycheck to paycheck? “Suck it up.”
“If you’re in an area where the school district is losing, then you gotta pay a little more taxes and you gotta help the schools out,” Goldberg said. “If you’re finding that your libraries are falling apart, you have to give more. This is where we come in.”
Goldberg insisted Americans can’t depend on President Trump or his administration to fix anything, calling it a collective burden. “This is us. Because we all thought they’re talking about somebody else, no, they’ve been talking about us the whole time—and when I say us, I mean all of us,” she added.
It’s a nice sentiment—if you’re a Hollywood millionaire. But for the average American family trying to stretch every dollar, the idea of paying even more in taxes while elites fly private and promote tax hikes from the comfort of their Manhattan studios is pure arrogance.
Goldberg’s rant came during a discussion of President Trump’s 90-day pause on tariffs for more than 75 countries—excluding China, which is now facing a 125% tariff after retaliating against U.S. trade policy. While many Americans see these actions as a strong stance for American workers, Goldberg brushed off economic concerns and instead blamed the people for not doing enough.
She even defended the Biden economy—despite it being marred by inflation that peaked at 9% and devastated working families across the country. In fact, she falsely claimed this week that egg prices hadn’t dropped “one cent” since Trump returned to office. Reality check: egg prices have plummeted over 45% this year, according to Trading Economics.
That kind of economic gaslighting is nothing new for the liberal media, but it’s especially rich coming from someone who hasn’t had to worry about paying the rent—or grocery bills—in decades.
Meanwhile, Trump is actively working to prevent future tax hikes by backing a Senate Republican bill to make his 2017 tax cuts permanent. If Democrats succeed in letting those cuts expire, Americans could be facing a $4 trillion tax increase by 2026.
But sure, Whoopi—tell the struggling single mom or retired factory worker to “give more” while sipping your green juice from a multi-million-dollar Manhattan loft.
Americans don’t need lectures from Hollywood elites. They need real relief, real leadership, and real accountability from those in power.
