The National Shift That Will Destroy Democrats

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich says a political realignment is sweeping across America, as frustrated voters flee what he calls the “party of weirdness.”
Speaking on Fox News’ “Jesse Watters Primetime,” Gingrich said the shift is being felt in every corner of the country — from state races to the national stage.
“We’re seeing this shift all across the country,” Gingrich said.
“Partly, they like Trump, but even more powerfully, they really are getting sick of the Democrats being a party of weirdness.”
Gingrich pointed to the attorney general’s race in Virginia as a prime example of how far the Democratic Party has fallen.
That race, between Republican incumbent Jason Miyares and Democrat Jay Jones, has drawn national outrage after messages surfaced showing Jones joking about murdering a Republican lawmaker and his young “fascist” children.
Jones has faced mounting pressure to exit the race, but Democratic leaders have stopped short of forcing him out.
“Some of them condemned the comments,” Gingrich said, “but the fact that they haven’t united to demand he step aside tells you everything you need to know.”
“That is a party which is sick,” he continued.
Virginia Democrat Abigail Spanberger released a statement denouncing Jones’ messages, but Gingrich said the party’s overall response shows how divided and morally lost Democrats have become.
“I think what you have is a sense that these people are really increasingly crazy and increasingly incompetent,” Gingrich said.
“And that is shifting people towards the Republican Party, I think, in a very big way.”
The former speaker said Democrats are no longer one cohesive movement but a collection of factions competing for control — leaving party leaders like Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries struggling to maintain order.
“I don’t think there’s any such thing as the Democrats,” Gingrich said.
“You have groups of left-wing cuckoos, and then you have a handful of rational people.”
He added that the leadership class is “trapped in a Brooklyn bubble,” too disconnected from working-class Americans to recognize how deeply their message has failed.
“They can’t even see that voters are walking away from them everywhere,” Gingrich said.
Across battleground states, Republicans have gained ground with suburban voters, Hispanic families, and blue-collar workers who once leaned Democrat.
Gingrich said that shift is a direct response to policies and cultural positions that most Americans see as extreme.
He described a growing sense among ordinary people that Democrats have “completely lost touch” with basic values like public safety, parental rights, and economic responsibility.
“It’s no longer about left versus right,” Gingrich said. “It’s about sanity versus chaos.”
The former speaker credited Trump’s leadership and message of strength for helping Republicans attract voters who feel abandoned by Washington elites.
“Trump represents a return to common sense and American pride,” Gingrich said.
According to him, the Left’s obsession with identity politics, censorship, and radical social issues has backfired — opening the door for Republicans to rebuild a coalition around freedom, faith, and law and order.
“What we’re watching now,” Gingrich said, “is the unraveling of a party that stopped believing in America.”
As polls tighten across multiple states, Gingrich said Democrats are running out of time to repair the damage.
“The tide is turning,” he said, “and it’s turning faster than they can handle.”
