Journalist Ashley Rindsberg is exposing the dark past of Ilhan Omar’s father.

Information about Omar’s father and his alleged role in Somalia’s Marxist-Leninist Siad Barre regime was dismissed for years. Mainstream outlets called it conspiracy theory. But Rindsberg tells BlazeTV host Liz Wheeler the evidence paints a very different picture.

The press seemed determined to bury the truth.

Rindsberg explained how the Omar family came to America.

“The Omars were brought or came to America under a refugee program. It gave them a special ability to enter the U.S. and to have their pathway to citizenship. And that was presuming that they were not serving in the military or the genocidal military of the country which they came from.”

However, Rindsberg says this turned out to be exactly the case.

The so-called fact-checking industry buried this information. Mainstream media outlets dismissed it entirely. They called it misinformation. They called it an anti-Muslim smear.

But the reality tells a different story.

“The reality is that Ilhan Omar’s father was a colonel in the Siad Barre regime, a Marxist-Leninist regime responsible for genocide of a neighboring tribe.”

“And he was a senior official in that very regime.”

Wheeler asked if he denied association with that government. Did he claim he was trying to escape it?

Rindsberg confirmed this was exactly what happened.

“He cast himself as a so-called teacher trainer. This was the term that kept coming up.”

The media acted as though his position as a teacher trainer was noble. They portrayed it as a harmless pursuit. Wheeler noted that the term sounds like a major red flag.

This is especially true when that person comes from a Marxist regime.

“That phrase in and of itself is not convincing to me; that’s almost laughable.”

Omar’s father passed away in 2020. After his death, Rindsberg made an interesting discovery. Local outlets in Minnesota published obituaries about him.

These appeared in both Somali-language and English-language publications.

“A lot of obituaries in local Somali-language and English-language outlets in Minnesota claiming and celebrating the fact that he was a colonel in the regime.”

“They were not ashamed of it. They thought this was something to be proud of.”

The Siad Barre regime was a brutal Marxist-Leninist dictatorship. It ruled Somalia from 1969 to 1991. The regime was responsible for genocide against neighboring tribes.

Senior officials in this regime committed terrible atrocities.

Omar’s father served as a colonel in this genocidal military. This was a senior position with significant authority. He would have been directly involved in regime operations.

The refugee program that brought the Omars to America had specific rules. People who served in the military of their home country were not eligible. This was especially true for those who served in genocidal regimes.

Omar’s father apparently lied about his background to gain entry.

He claimed to be a teacher trainer fleeing persecution. This false narrative allowed his family to enter the United States. They received special refugee status and a pathway to citizenship.

The mainstream media refused to investigate these claims properly. When evidence emerged about Omar’s father’s true role, they dismissed it. They protected Omar and her family from scrutiny.

Fact-checkers labeled the information as false without proper investigation. They called anyone raising questions anti-Muslim. This shut down legitimate inquiry into Omar’s background.

Local Somali communities in Minnesota knew the truth all along. They celebrated Omar’s father’s role in the Barre regime. Obituaries openly praised his position as a colonel.

This proves the information was never a conspiracy theory. It was always factual and verifiable. But the media chose to bury it instead.

Omar has built her political career on a foundation of deception. Her father’s lie allowed the family to enter America illegally. They exploited the refugee system meant to help genuine victims.

Now Omar serves in Congress representing Minnesota. She has pushed far-left policies throughout her tenure. Her background raises serious questions about her loyalty and honesty.

The media owes Americans an apology for covering up this story. They failed to do basic journalism. They chose political protection over truth.
