Black Voters Turn on Biden in 2024

Ever wonder where the Democratic Party would be without black voters? Well, it’s looking like we’ll find out in 2024.

For as long as most of us can remember, black Americans have turned out to vote Democratically year after year.

Naturally, this began as the party became known as one for inclusion, blue-collar workers, and everyday Americans. I mean, who wouldn’t want to support those who supposedly support you? Especially at the time and in contrast to when the Republican Party was seen as the one for rich, white folks.

However, while still touted as the party of so-called inclusion, the Democratic Party and its current leaders no longer even slightly resemble what it was built on and for.

As for Democratic leaders, we need to look no further than Democratic President Joe Biden to see just how much the party has failed black Americans and pretty much everyone else they promised to fight for.

But don’t just take my word for it. Instead, I give you the story of Michelle, a single working mother of three teenage boys just trying to make ends meet in North Philadelphia. As a piece in The Wall Street Journal explains, Michelle was only too proud to vote for Biden and the Democrats in 2020.

As she told the outlet, she actually “thought he would help people like” her. But now, three years later, she has seen the error of her ways. And it has cost her her faith and trust in both Biden and the Democrats.

The Journal’s Catherine Lucey wrote, “Now she says she won’t vote for him again, citing higher prices, skyrocketing rent and a feeling she has been left behind.”

Lucey explained that despite all the promises Biden made, Michelle is working harder than ever before just to put food on the table for her growing boys. She works primarily as a home health aide, earning only $12.50 an hour. As a side gig, she’s started making Instacart deliveries.

It’s bad enough that Michelle isn’t certain she’ll vote at all come 2024.

Of course, she isn’t the only black American who feels this way.

Like Michelle, thousands put their trust in Biden and his party, hoping that he would put them first and improve our lives. Three years later, things are worse than ever.

In fact, thanks to Biden’s disastrous economy, blacks are seeing the absolute worst situations. Gains are slowing faster than any other demographic. But clearly, the price of goods, housing, services, etc., are not. Those are still very much inflated for everyone.

As Lucey wrote, median earnings for black workers have only increased 4.2 percent during the third quarter of this year. Last year, during the same quarter, that percentage was 10.3. and the numbers are similar for the second quarter as well.

On top of that, unemployment among black workers is steadily growing, increasing to 5.8 percent in October compared to a record low of 4.7 percent in April.

Naturally, all of this does not bode well for Biden or his party.

People are finally starting to see that Biden isn’t doing his job, isn’t sticking to his promises, and just about everything is worse off than when the White House was handed to him in January 2021.

In fact, according to a recent poll by the New York Times/Siena College says that black voters are actually even looking to the Republican Party this year. A whopping 22 percent of the black vote is estimated to go to Trump in a hypothetical rematch of Trump and Biden.

Compare that to the measly 8 percent Trump received in 2020, and you’ll understand why Democratic leaders are getting extremely worried.

One unnamed black elected Democrat said, “I’m absolutely concerned. Frankly, I am extremely concerned. This is a huge problem.”

Of course, Dems are trying to throw their weight into campaigning and voter canvassing in the hopes of winning back those black votes. But at this point, it’s too little too late for most.
